This pen came with instructions that appear to have been written by someone who doesnt grasp the english language. Anonimity is next to impossible as the pen has a light on it that can be seen. It would be much better if it came with more detailed and clearer instructions and I for one want MY MONEY BACK!

The pen needed to be charged right out of the box. The yellow light came on during the initial charging. After 15 minutes on the charge i disconnected the pen and the light stayed on. When I push the button to start recording the blue light never came on and the yellow stand by light never went off. The instructions were not clear do to the translators poor english understanding of words. I removed the top and jigle the parts inside and it started working correctly. I hope it last! This is my aggravation with this product!

For the size and convenience this video pen is amazing. it plugs right into my macbook with no problems and comes right up as an external drive just like my thumb drives do. The movies record into avi format which i had no problem playing with quicktime. Very cool little gadget. instructions suck, translation is unreadable but, its not rocket science to figure this thing out. 3 second hold of the button turns it on into standby (yellow light) short clicks turn video record mode on and off (blue light when recording), Ta Da.

I’ve only had this video recorder pen for 2 days and I say that it works really well for me. As long as you know your electronics, like I do, you can figure this video recorder pen out. I’ve already taken 50 video clips so far, testing it out and the video looks good. The sound on the other hand could be better. So far I like this pen. In case if you are out and about and want to capture something, it’s a great video recording pen. It uses about 25 frames per second. While you are charging up the battery the light will be a blinking orange. When it is fully charged the light will stay lit up orange. If you are capturing video the light will be blue continously. To turn if off just hold down for 2-3 seconds and it will turn off the power of the pen. To me this pen is really cute. I recommend this product.

I ran across this little spy pen while browsing for a new toy! The video and picture quality are as good as should be expected from an itty-bitty cheap lens! My biggest complaint would be the included instructions, which were obviously for an older product. There was reference to a non-existent “mode switch”, no doubt referring to the BPR (Business Portable Recorder) 2, 3, 4, whatever. After an hour or so of tinkering, I have established the actual BPR 6 functions: Push and hold button 1 second, light flashes past red quickly and goes to green (standby mode). You are now in picture mode. Push button, light goes off momentarily, comes back on, repeat for additional pictures. For video, hold down button 2 seconds or so, light flashes 3 times, goes off. You are now recording (light is off). To pause, press button, light comes on, you are in standby mode. Press again, light goes off, you are recording! I have found no way back into picture mode except to turn unit off: while in standby, hold down button for 4 seconds or so, unit is off. To verify, plug into computer, unit should be recognized as USB storage. If its still on (video mode), Windows will recognize it as new hardware (webcam). The pen will date/time stamp both pictures and videos in the bottom right corner, I’ve not found a way to turn this feature off. I’ve placed a txt file in the root dir per the (older unit) instructions, which stamps the user created date/time, but will not turn it off! Also, Windows Media Player will not play these video files, I ended up installing KMPlayer (free), which works fine. I hope this helps!

I’ve wanted to play with one of these “pen cams” for a while, but didn’t like the cheapness of the first ones I saw. This one looked like it had a nice finish so I took the chance, and won. The pen itself looks great – like “just” an executive pen. It’s fairly hefty and, well, it writes.

As another reviewer noted, the instructions aren’t quite right for the pen, but you can puzzle out the operation: basically press once for one second to turn it on, give it a quick click to start and stop video, hold the button for a few seconds to turn it off. The threads on the shaft, where you take it apart to get at the MicroSD card, seem a little fragile, but I’ve been gentle with them and haven’t had a problem.

What really surprised me is that this is an 8 megapixel camera, and the video is much higher-def than the 640×480 of my older hand-held cam. Even the sound is decent; you could use this camera on your vacation. But be careful if you use this for actual spying: the blinking LED on the back is really noticeable. Maybe 007 would put a piece of electrical tape over it.

The one problem I had was my unit came without the 2GB MicroSD card. I contacted the seller and they sent one immediately with apologies. That was really nice.

Would I buy one again? You bet. From this seller? You bet.

The video and picture quality as well as sound quality is amazing for what the cost is for this Mini DVR Video Pen. If you read the reviews from others the instructions are a bit out of date and hard to understand in the translation. The threads that screw the 2 parts together are loose and you must be especially careful not to cross thread them. It looks great like a regular pin and writes well too.

I have not figures out how to change the time and date stamp om this Mini DVR Video pen yet. I have tried and tried but I must be missing something to effectively make the change. Maybe I need some help on the instructions or break it down step by step to me.

I purchased this item from another retailer, but wanted to comment on it here. I got the BPR 6, which appears to be the same one offered her. I purchased a separate 8GB Kingston microSDHC card that works well in it. Total cost about $45. One of the reviewers here was kind enough to write up much more understandable instructions for using the pen. The reason I only give this 4 stars is because the instructions that come with it are essentially useless as well as inaccurate. Find that review and save the instructions – they’re great. Video quality was surprisingly good considering this is a $35-ish “spy pen”.

Reading the bad reviews, I was hesitant to buy it. I researched other pens and devices, and eventually it came down to this one. No complaints! So easy to figure out the buttons. Easily switches from picture to video mode and back (unlike other devices that need to be opened to change this function). Even easier to get recorded files onto the computer. You just plug it in via USB and that’s it! Video/Picture quality and sound is considerably good (keep in mind it’s NOT a digital camera, so don’t expect much)! Wouldn’t know it was anything more than a pen without taking a closer look.

I’m pretty adept with gadgets, even those with badly translated instructions. In this case, the instructions are not particularly difficult to follow and there’s a good diagram showing where all the very tiny features are located However, minor problem: the pen doesn’t do what the instructions indicate. For example, it says to hold down the power button for 1-3 seconds and the yellow indicator light will come on – so far so good – then after initialization, the indicator light will turn blue THIS NEVER HAPPENS. No. Blue. Light. Ever. Apparently this is a key part to the whole deal as the blue light is when you are in – yep you got it “video record mode”. I tried continuing on skipping the blue light stage, following the rest of the instructions, considering perhaps that they had been written to apply to many models, and this model simply didn’t have that color change feature. I experimented, I do believe every conceivable permutation, checking periodically on my computer… AB-SO-LU-TE-LY NO-THING. And – Bonus, the yellow light won’t tun off now. Wa-hoo. A truly fine product. I am awfully stubborn though, and it’s difficult to believe that it simply doesn’t work at all, so I’m going to try to do a little more research on it. Anyone discovers any trick to this, please post it – would love to know!

Till then, I would only recommend this to those electronic-whiz-geniuses who are intent on figuring out how this works – and actually it should be sent to them for free by the case! :)

In short, I haven’t been able to get it to work and it won’t open when I plug it into a computer’s USB 2.0 slot. The instructions don’t mention anything to be done before use and the manual only tells you how to use it. Maybe I could edit this review at a later date after I perform more tests to try to get it to work but for now, I don’t feel too good about it and well, it’s basically just a really expensive pen.

The video camera (spy pen) did not work at all. Totally DOA. When connected to the wall charger the yellow charging light did not turn on. When the record button was pressed the blue light did not turn on, and the DVR did not record. Pressing the master reset had no effect. When plugged into a computer USB port no yellow charging light, and no access to the file system. Indeed, the computer was not aware that the pen had been plugged into the USB port. Given the price the effort to return was too much, so I just ate the loss.

I was so happy I finally found a pin cam for such a good price but when you find it too good to be true it is just that. In this case NO GOOD. I got 2 of them and not the first sign of a video and one wouldn’t even light up even after several hours charging.

Guess you get what you pay for and I ask for a refund and Amazon is kind enough to accept my disgust in the product and refund my money.

I want one that works and has instructions in true English

The first one I looked at had removable batteries and could have a back up set of batteries for when your on the road to replace and recharge them later.
