cameras need to be wireless and have a decent resolution. dvr can be any size as long as it can be programmed to upload to ftp as well.

Connect the dvr to your home network and set the ftp software to ftp up the contents of the hard drive.
Set the dvr to overwrite every, say 2 days, and the the fp to go every other day longer or shorter depending on the amount of Information the dvr collects.

You will need a good connection to the internet as video files are big.
